CIRP & STC's

The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) is the world leading organization in production engineering research and is at the forefront of design, optimization, control and management of processes, machines and systems. CIRP is organized along the lines of a number of Scientific Technical Committees (STCs) and Working Groups (WGs), covering many areas. The Scientific and Technical Committees (STCs) are the groups responsible for coordinating the collaborative research projects run by CIRP. The knowledge generated in each field of activity is distributed by publications and conferences to the manufacturing community at large.

STC Design

STC Design (as a part of the research track 3) focuses on all research related to design. Here, design is seen as an integral part of the manufacturing system from its philosophical roots, through design theory, to optimised engineering design practice including:

STC Dn deals with:

STC DN contributions will be developed through an international discussion of research work, papers and oral presentations at General Assemblies, DN seminars and meetings. It will stimulate exchange of researchers and establish collaborative research.
Contributions will be in the the areas of design theories, principles and methodologies, its practical application, for developing computational tools to support design to manufacturing and the whole product life cycle.
